Faithfulness, Not Perfection
Of all the people recorded in the Bible, I seem to come back to King David.
I think because, I understand him, and he and I have some things in common.
In many ways he was a godly man, but equally he was a flawed man. He was a good leader, but he did have times of weakness and fear. He did serve the kingdom well, but personally, he was a disappointment at times.
God used him in-spite of himself. He had an overwhelming desire to see God at work. His heart brought him back to God even when he was weak and sinful. We are so much alike in this struggle.
I often remind myself that, if God can use him, He certainly can do something with me.
David is a reminder that God is looking for faithfulness and not perfection. Now that is good news!
